Let’s cook porridge! Part 2

Millet porridge

 

The health-giving function of yellow millet porridge had been proved long ago. Millet porridge is considered to be a product that gives strength, so doctors recommend such porridge for athletes and people, who do physical labor. It is also health-giving for adolescents. It can be judged from the fact that the millet porridge contains silica (a substance from which all living beings «build» the bones and teeth), copper, which makes the tissues more elastic, the essential amino acids that serve as building blocks for muscle and skin cells. In addition, the substances (that are contained in millet porridge) are capable of binding heavy metal ions and excrete toxins. That is why this porridge is desirable to include in the menu for the residents of large cities and regions with an unfavorable environment.

 

Jolly porridge

 

 

0.5 cups of millet

500 ml of milk

a handful of raisins

3 teaspoons of sugar

Pinch of cinnamon

 

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Soak the raisins in a sturdy freshly tea, then pour out the tea. Pour millet into the pan, so it can be put in the oven, pour the milk and cook until it is almost ready, add the raisins and put for about 15 minutes in the preheated oven, covering the pan with a lid. Combine cinnamon and sugar, mix well. Sprinkle the porridge (when it is ready) with sugar and cinnamon.

 

Porridge with pumpkin

 

 

 

1 cup of millet

3 cups of milk

0.5 kg of pumpkin

1 tsp of honey

Salt, sugar ( according to your taste)

1 package of vanilla sugar

1 banana

 

Put chopped pumpkin in the hot milk and cook for 10-15 minutes. Pour washed cereal, salt, sugar and cook it for 15-20 minutes until it will get thicker. Stir while it is cooking. Then wrap for 25-30 minutes or put under the pillow. Add honey and vanilla sugar. Serve with sliced banana.

 

Oatmeal

 

One bowl of oatmeal porridge contains a daily dose of important antioxidants like vitamin E and selenium. They protect cells from premature aging and contribute to cancer prevention. So why oatmeal porridge and cereals are so healthy? The undoubted advantage of oatmeal is that it includes an abundance of soluble cellular tissue and gluten. Cellular tissue stimulates the bowels and takes out toxins from the body. It also serves as a prevention of the gastrointestinal tract. Gluten also envelops gastric mucosa and helps to cope with bouts of gastritis. Any oatmeal neutralizes the harmful effect of cholesterol. It is advisable not to buy oats that can be cooked quickly. Due to pre-heat treatment healthy substances are destroyed and also the content of the starch increases.

 

Oatmeal with dried fruits

 

 

2 medium-sized apples

8 pcs. of dried apricots

1 tbsp. of white raisins

90 g of oat flakes

250 ml of skimmed milk

400 ml of boiling water

1 / 2 teaspoon of cinnamon

 

Clear apple peel and remove seeds. Cut into large slices and place them in a medium saucepan, pour 50 ml of water. Bring to a boil and then stew for 10 minutes on low heat with a lid. Add apricots, raisins and cinnamon and boil for another 5 minutes without a lid until apples become soft. Pour the cereal into another pan, pour milk and remaining water. Bring to a boil and cook over low heat without closing the lid until the mixture become thicker. Put the porridge on the plates and add fruits.

 

Oatmeal based on the condensed milk with fruits

 

 

300-350 ml of water

1 cup of oatmeal

4.3 tsp of condensed milk

Fruit slices

40 g of butter

 

Boil water, dissolve in the water 3-4 full teaspoons of condensed milk, add flakes, finely chopped vegetables and then cook as usual. When the porridge is ready add salt. After that put 30-40 grams of butter on a plate and let it melt. The dish tastes better with a pear (ripe, flavorful, large pears, for a portion half of fruit would be enough) as well as with peaches, apricots, apples, bananas, strawberries (though they are not the fruits). Of course, the fruits must be cleaned from the core and the peduncles, but there is no need to remove the peel because it will soften during cooking.

 

Porridge with oranges

 

 

2 oranges

1.5 cups of oatmeal flakes

2 cups of milk

a handful of raisins

1 tbsp of honey

 

Wash the oranges. One of them scald with boiling water, squeeze the juice out of it, and grate the zest of this orange. Clear the other orange, divide it into slices and set aside. Put the grated zest, orange juice, oatmeal and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over low heat and cook over low heat for 1 minute. Stir constantly while it is cooking. Add raisins and honey. Put in a 4 deep plates and decorate each portion with a slice of orange.
