Borjomi for breast-feeding moms? Of course! But it should be non-earated beforehand.

 

Some features of breast-feeding mother’s nutrition

During the period of lactation breast-feeding moms should eat a lot of vegetables and fruits (fresh, frozen, dried, canned or in juice form). Prefer beets, carrots, potatoes, apples and pears. Some vegetables and fruits should be brought into the diet very carefully, because they can cause heightened flatulence in the baby. These products are: cabbages, peas, grapes, radishes, cucumbers, zucchini, and eggplants. Different milk porridges are recommended, but if baby suffers from constipation, rice porridge should be excluded. As well as a side dish of boiled rice. Energetically rich products are pasta, whole grain bread, beans (beans could also provoke the heightened flatulence, so be careful). The fish should be eaten two times a week if the child isn’t allergic to such product. Do not forget about the fatty fish. Meat and poultry can be eaten in any quantity if it is stewed, baked or boiled.  Also very health-giving for the baby and mother are dairy products because they contain not only calcium, but also protein.

Do not eat a lot of eggs. Eat them3-4 times a week. It would be better to eat them in the form of an omelette. Sometimes you can allow yourself to eat cheesecakes, pancakes, ravioli or dumplings.  But these dishes have to become an exception rather than a rule. Occasionally you can eat pickles or fish, but remember that these products provoke fluid retention in the body.

During the day you can have milk and dairy products with fat content less than 1%, compote of dried fruits, non-aerated mineral water, and tea with milk (green tea without sugar would be especially healthy, because it stimulates lactation). Occasionally you can drink a glass of non-alcoholic beer, apple or prune juice (can also provoke flatulence).

Highly undesirable for feeding lactating mothers are foods, which contain a large amount of seasonings, sauces and marinades. All such products can affect the taste of milk, so the health of your child would be under the risk. Try to avoid excessively fatty foods, because it is unhealthy for the baby and also harmful to your health and figure. Be careful with the «classical» allergens: strawberry, chocolate, seafood, eggs, citrus, tropical fruits, smoked sausage, honey, etc. Remember that an unknown product should be brought in your ration gradually in order to protect the child from allergies, or at least to find out the product, which caused the reaction. If you really want to treat yourself with something delicious, give preference to fruits and low-fat cookies. Also try not to drink sweet carbonated drinks.
