According to scientists of the University of Queensland in Australia, harm from a sedentary lifestyle can be neutralized by getting up from the chair even for a minute a few times per hour.
A number of studies have shown that several hours spent sitting per day, have a devastating effect on human health.
The people, who have sedentary life, suffer from overweight, high cholesterol and even inflammatory process in the blood. Moreover, physical activity before and after sedentary work only slightly changed these indices.
Scientists led by Dr Genevieve Healy analyzed information about 5 thousand people aged 20 years. Volunteers wore an accelerometer (device that monitors the intensity of physical activity). It turned out that even minor breaks can reduce the risk of the health to almost 25%.
